Bewitching Nicole Kidman on 'Bewitched' and Lohan on 'Herbie.' Plus, 'Land of the Dead,' 'Rize' and more For Nicole Kidman, magically twitching her nose in "Bewitched" didn't come easy, especially since she was stepping into the legendary shoes (or nose) of Elizabeth Montgomery. "Oh, I needed a mirror and the VCR," Kidman says. "I would put her nose in slow motion and then I would put the mirror next to it and I would try to mimic it. My mom would say, 'No, that wasn't very good. Try again.'" (Laughs). Kidman is starring in her second comedic remake after last year's painful "The Stepford Wives." Besides the joy of working with funny man Will Ferrell, it also helped that she was a fan of the original TV series. "This seemed something quite fun to do, the idea of having watched something as a little girl and then being able to step into it as a woman and kind of pay homage to it," she says to a select group of journalists fortunate enough to speak with the humble and captivating star. And describing the Aussie actress as humble is an understatement. Even after winning an Oscar for "The Hours" and critical raves in such movies as "Moulin Rouge," "The Others" and "To Die For," Kidman says she still has doubts about her acting chops. "So much of your trepidation is just based on [thinking] 'I don't want to make a fool of myself,' particularly if your nature is a little reticent and shy to begin with," she says. "I tend not to say much until I feel at ease, and that takes me a little time." Those personality traits seem ideal for Kidman's "Bewitched" character Isabel. She is a witch who wants to explore the human world without using her powers. One day, Isabel runs into Will Ferrell's Jack Wyatt, a movie star whose career has gone to hell and who is looking for a comeback with a remake of the classic TV series "Bewitched." Jack is immediately enamored with Isabel and gets her cast as Samantha, despite no previous acting experience (talk about a Hollywood fairy tale). Working opposite the improvisational Ferrell isn't what most people would expect of an actress like Kidman. "They always seem to say that about me," she says. "They said that Sean Penn and I were unexpected [in "The Interpreter"]. I suppose with Will and I, it is kind of odd, but at the same time, it was really fun. He's very generous with his talent. He would always be like, 'Come on, Nicole, you can do it,' and coaxing me out of my shell." And having the magical powers of a witch wasn't bad either -- even if it's just on screen. "It's kind of nice to be able to -- if you're pissed off -- walk through and blow up a cappuccino machine and make a dog jump into your arms and make him speak in tongues," she says, laughing to herself. "But at the same time, I think the overall idea of the film is that to fall in love requires a little magic."
